From October 17 to 26, Piazza Mazzini in Lecce hosts the Mobile Market of Tunisian Handicrafts, organized by the Municipality of Lecce in partnership with the National Office of Tunisian Handicrafts (Onat) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Unido).
The event is part of the Armonie del Mediterraneo Festival and highlights the richness, creativity, and authenticity of Tunisian craftsmanship through exhibitions and live demonstrations by artisans. It offers a unique opportunity for friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and Italy, promoting cultural and economic exchange across the Mediterranean.
Armonie del Mediterraneo celebrates peace, starting with cultural dialogue as a foundation for understanding among peoples. Lecce, with its long history of exchange and hospitality, provides an ideal setting to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Euro-Mediterranean community.
The Festival, promoted by the Municipality of Lecce and Mayor Adriana Poli Bortone, with the scientific and organizational support of the Agenzia per il Patrimonio Culturale Euromediterraneo, took place in July with a rich program of meetings, performances, and cultural initiatives. The activities brought together voices and traditions from across the Mediterranean and engaged a broad audience of residents, students, visitors, and scholars, with particular attention to inclusion and community participation.
Partners include Fondazione Treccani Cultura, Fondazione CMCC, the University of Salento, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Now, in collaboration with Onat and Unido, the Mobile Market of Tunisian Handicrafts transforms Piazza Mazzini into a vibrant space of colors, traditions, and creativity. The market features 24 pavilions displaying unique handmade works, including carved olive wood, refined ceramics, traditional textiles, carpets, and original artistic creations.
The market is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., from October 17 to 26.
