IN MARTIGNANO,(LE) THE FOURTH INFODAY OF THE PROJECT, “POS MATOME GRIKO“

A meeting for testing and evaluating the new teaching method and didactic tools implemented by the Project “Pos Matome Griko “

The fourth Infoday of the project Pos Matome Griko takes place on Tuesday , November 20, 2012, starting at 18.00, at the following location: “Parco Turistico G. Palmieri, Piazza Palmieri. Martignano (Le).

The meeting is organized by Euro-Mediterranean Cultural Heritage Agency, Leader partner of the project, in collaboration with the Institute of Mediterranean Cultures of Lecce, which is also one of the partner of the project.

The infoday of Martignano is the fourth of a series of meetings that will take place in the territory of Grecìa Salentina, aiming at the presentation of the project Pos Matome Griko and at the same time at testing and evaluating the new didactic method, implemented through the project Pos Matome Griko and of some of the teaching units (level “B1 and B2 adults).

Methodological details and news of the project, will be presented by Prof. Salvatore Tommasi

The project Pos Matome Griko aims at enhancing a new and renewed interest for Griko language, making its teaching and learning easy and interesting through the development of a modern and innovative teaching methodology, supported by multimedia tools applied to ‘language teaching.

The project team is composed by high profile international partners, with long experience in projecting and executing initiatives aiming at preserving and improving the value of Euro-Mediterranean Cultural Heritage. They are: Agenzia per il Patrimonio Culturale Euromediterraneo (IT); British Hellenic Educational And Development Association (Gr), Alpha Publications (Gr); University of Cyprus (CY); Istituto Culture Mediterranee (IT).

Pos Matome Griko is a particularly innovative project because this is the first time that the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is used for teaching and learning a minority language. All new educational tools, absolutely innovative for concept and methodology, have been implemented according to CEFRS guidelines and requirements with the contribution of all the involved partners and thanks to the Community funding of Lifelong Learning programme.

The traditional educational tools as vocabularies, books, language courses for children and adults, are, in fact, supported by modern ICT applied to education: the website – www.e-griko.eu , the e-learning platform and the educational software are an essential part of the method and have been studied and designed to involve and catch the attention of younger people. Nevertheless, the new didactic approach also takes in consideration adults who will have access to a comprehensive and integrated educational system for learning Griko at all levels.

The availability of modern teaching materials and the development of specific educational curricula are the strengths of the project to raise awareness on the important cultural and historical role played by Griko in everyday life and behaviour of the Griko speaking population. For this reason this language can and must be protected and preserved.
